Even Seasoned Riders Should know
1. KNOW YOURSELF AND YOUR MOTORCYCLE
Know your reaction time and adjust how you ride accordingly. Riding a motorcycle requires sharp senses at all times; dont ride your bike when you feel your senses are compromised. Keep your motorcycle in good condition by regular maintenance and make sure to check your tire pressure and wear, oil level, and brake fluid levels before riding.
WEAR YOUR GEAR ALL THE TIME WHEN RIDING, EVEN FOR SHORT RIDES.
2. DRIVE DEFENSIVELY
Always be visible and avoid blind spots. Never assume other drivers can naturally see you. Let others know your plans by using signal lights at the right time and overtaking properly. Give way when necessary; your safety always comes first.
3. CLEAR EYES
It helps your hand-eye coordination if you are looking at where you want to go. Do not look too long at the other things when driving as you will naturally gravitate towards what you are looking at. Focus on the road.
4. AVOID WEARING DARK SHADES
Sometimes we feel we have to be maporma when we ride. Shades are ok for long rides but make sure it does not limit your visibility.
5. TAKE A MOTORCYCLE SAFETY RIDING COURSE
No matter how seasoned you are it helps to review how to ride properly and safely. You can even benefit by unlearning bad riding habits you may have developed as a rider. Motortrade offers short riding courses for only P400. Visit any of our branches, check our website, or like us on facebook for more details.
