Motorcycles are not just modes of transportation—they’re valuable assets and everyday companions, especially for Filipino riders who rely on them for commuting, business, and deliveries. Just like any machine, motorcycles need consistent care to stay in excellent running condition. That’s where regular servicing comes in. At Motortrade, we believe in empowering every rider with proper motorcycle care. Here’s why regular motorcycle servicing should be a top priority.
Motorcycle servicing refers to the routine checkup and maintenance of various components of your bike to ensure it’s operating safely and efficiently. This typically includes:
✓ Oil and filter changes
✓ Brake system inspection
✓ Chain cleaning and lubrication
✓ Tire pressure and tread check
✓ Battery condition check
✓ Engine and electrical diagnostics
It’s not just about fixing problems—it’s about preventing them before they start.
Nothing is more important than your safety. Servicing helps detect worn-out brakes, loose bolts, tire issues, or engine problems that could lead to accidents if left unchecked. Riding a properly maintained motorcycle gives you peace of mind on every journey.
What starts as a small noise or minor issue can quickly turn into a costly repair. Regular maintenance helps detect and address problems early, saving you from unexpected breakdowns and repair bills.
Like any machine, your motorcycle performs better and lasts longer with proper care. Servicing helps keep your engine and parts in optimal condition, increasing the overall lifespan of your unit.
Dirty air filters, old spark plugs, or poor tire pressure can reduce your bike’s fuel efficiency. Regular tune-ups ensure your motorcycle runs smoothly and consumes fuel efficiently—saving you money over time.
A well-maintained motorcycle holds its value much better. Whether you plan to upgrade or sell in the future, a complete service history shows potential buyers that your unit has been taken care of properly.
Many manufacturer’ warranties require regular servicing as part of their conditions. Skipping service intervals can void your warranty, leaving you without coverage for certain repairs or parts.
The recommended service intervals can vary depending on the brand, model, and usage of the motorcycle. As a general guide:
✓ First service: after 1,000 km or 1 month
✓ Second service: after 4,000–5,000 km
✓ Regular servicing: every 3 to 6 months
If you use your motorcycle heavily—such as for delivery, long-distance travel, or daily commuting—more frequent checkups may be needed.
Motortrade offers expert motorcycle servicing across our nationwide network of branches. Here’s why thousands of riders trust us:

In the Philippines, the rainy season can last for months—bringing not only floods and slippery roads but also challenges for motorcycle riders. For many Filipinos, motorcycles are essential for daily transportation and delivery work, so riding in the rain is often unavoidable. That’s why preparing your motorcycle for wet weather isn’t optional—it’s essential for safety, performance, and long-term durability.
Whether you’re a daily commuter, weekend rider, or business owner relying on your unit, this guide will help you stay safe and ready for every rainy ride.
Unlike cars, motorcycles offer little protection from the elements. A sudden downpour or unexpected flood can be dangerous if your motorcycle isn’t properly maintained or equipped for the conditions. Rain can affect:
✓ Braking distance (longer on wet roads)
✓ Tire grip and traction
✓ Engine and electrical performance
✓ Visibility for you and other drivers
Proper preparation can prevent accidents, reduce repair costs, and give you peace of mind no matter the weather.
Before the rainy season is in full swing, take time to inspect and maintain your unit. Here are the key areas to focus on:
Your brakes and tires are your first line of defense against slippery roads.
✓ Make sure your brake pads aren’t worn out and your brake fluid is at the right level.
✓ Check tire tread depth—bald tires are extremely risky in the rain. At least 2mm tread depth is ideal for wet conditions.
✓ Proper tire pressure improves traction and prevents skidding.
Good lighting and a reliable electrical system are essential when visibility drops.
✓ Check that your headlights, tail lights, brake lights, and signal lights are all working.
✓ Replace any dim or flickering bulbs.
✓ Ensure there are no exposed or damaged wires that might short-circuit when wet.
Rainwater and mud can quickly wash off chain lubricants, leading to rust and damage.
✓ Clean and lubricate your drive chain every two weeks or after every ride in heavy rain.
✓ Use weather-resistant chain lube for better protection.
Your motorcycle isn’t the only thing that needs protection—you do, too. Wearing the right gear during the rainy season can keep you safe, dry, and visible on the road.
✓ Invest in a full-body rain suit that keeps you dry during long rides. Choose one with reflective strips for better visibility in low-light conditions.
✓ Waterproof Storage and Mounts
✓ Waterproof bags or top boxes
✓ Phone holders with waterproof covers and anti-fog screens
✓ Plastic covers for under-seat storage
Rain doesn’t stop once you’re on the road. To keep your bike in good shape all season, regular maintenance is key.
Cold and wet conditions reduce battery performance. Make sure:
✓ Battery terminals are clean and dry
✓ You test your battery’s charge regularly
✓ The battery is securely mounted and sealed
Don’t leave your bike wet after a rainy ride. Simple actions can prevent rust and damage.
✓ Wipe down the motorcycle with a dry cloth
✓ Focus on the chain, brake discs, and switches
✓ Park in a dry, covered space or use a waterproof motorcycle cover
Motortrade isn’t just your trusted motorcycle dealer—we’re your service partner too. During the rainy season, Motortrade offers:

The open road beckons…
Honda Philippines, Inc. (HPI), Honda Safety Driving Center (HSDC) and Motortrade took some thirty-three Honda Big Bike owners on a quick touring ride to Subic, Zambales last weekend. “This short ride to Subic, and back, serves as a “tune up” ride of sorts for our big bike customers because we are planning to have more ride activities in store for them as travel restrictions eases amidst the lowering number of Covid cases” shares Edwin Galos, Cluster Head, Motortrade Honda Flagship Makati. “We decided to have an intimate gathering for now in order to comply with current health and safety guidelines, and also to keep things manageable since this is the first time we are staging such an activity” he added.
The small group of Honda big bike riders converged on an early Sunday morning at the Honda Flagship Store along EDSA in Makati City. After a short orientation conducted by the motorcycle riding instructors from HSDC, the riders departed for the first pitstop in North Luzon Expressway via Magallanes Skyway entry point. The HSDC instructors also served as ride marshals to ensure safety and compliance to traffic regulations. The convoy of high-displacement motorcycles consisted mostly of CB650Rs but a few adventure-oriented Honda models like CB500X, X-ADV and Africa Twin were also present. After making another rest stop in Subic-Clark-Tarlac Expressway, the group went strait to Slabs Diner and Steakhouse in Subic for a sumptuous brunch.
